Our club is affiliated with The Lifesaving Society of BC. We are an ocean based lifesaving club (very different to pool life saving). We are not a “swim club” and we are not a “surf club”. However, swimming and surfing are an integral part of what we do.
Ocean sessions are the backbone of our club. In these you will learn the multidisciplinary skills of being an ocean lifesaver, including ocean swimming, board paddling, rescue techniques, communication and teamwork. There are also skill building opportunities in first aid and CPR, as well as training in understanding tides and ocean conditions. You will also train to compete in the sport of surf life saving. On occasion, the weather or sea conditions may prevent the ocean session from happening, but we will always try to do alternative beachside activities.
For our 2026 season we are targeting members who have ocean surf experience. All members will need to have their own wetsuit as many of our practices will be outdoor based. As capacity builds, we look forward to recruiting more novice members as well as a youth (Pups) chapter.

Weekly practices will commence every Thursday morning from March-October. Winter workshops available for registered members.
We are a fun and very active club, offering something different to the norm.
Membership Information
All participants must be 16 years or older to join and must feel comfortable with open ocean based sport activities. Members are required to pay membership fees PRIOR to participation and complete the club waiver form. All fees paid are non refundable and non transferable.
Membership fees go directly back to club activities and help to fund equipment, trainers, and other associated club costs.
Standard Membership - $50/year
This is a membership for those who want to support the club but who are not sure if they want to participate in weekly practices. Standard members will have the opportunity to participate in our Beach Ambassador training program and volunteer opportunities. They will also receive water safety training and course opportunities offered through the club; along with one “free try-it” practice. This is a great way to show support for the club and community. Membership prerequisites are:
ages 16 years and up

Steller Membership - $100/year
This is an ‘active’ membership which provides participants with the opportunity to participate in regular practices and social events. As a Steller Member it is completely up to you how much you participate (you could come to one practice or all of them!) Steller Members will have first access to subsidized workshops and courses. Membership prerequisites are:
ages 16 years and up
Have at least 2 years of ocean based experience (surfing, kayaking, ocean swimming, body surfing etc)
Are a competent swimmer
Have a positive attitude and want to work towards improving the culture around ocean safety within our community.
